Gente del delta

Nino Migliori was not yet a professional photographer, but his unbridled curiosity for interesting places, situations and people was already prevalent. The Po Delta, a borderland where poverty is considered endemic, is captured here in shots that show the difficult coexistence between man and nature. The relationship with the river is a key element, but what stands out in the photos are the as-yet unpaved roads, the humble, bare interiors, and children who look like miniature adults. A boy on a Vespa is the harbinger of a nascent prosperity. "Lyrical historical documents", are how Vasco Brondi defines them in his introduction.
