Gods first

It is probably no accident that François Halard has chosen specifically ancient and archaeological subjects for this new body of work, with statues, busts and fragments of sculptures. These were photographed with a Polaroid camera, then cropped, enlarged, reworked, and finally coated with wax - and in some cases covered with brush-drawn words and names. The photographer has nurtured a passion for the Polaroid process, and over the years it seems to have become his favourite medium, allowing him to experiment in an intimate and alchemical way.
